Pep Squad Advisor
Kris Higman My name is Kris Higman but the athletes call me Mrs. Kris. I have been the Pep Advisor and Head Coach at Newport Harbor High School for the Cheerleading program for over ten years. I have an extensive background in gymnastics, ballet, jazz and baton twirling. I attended Long Beach State University where I was on the Nationally ranked Dance team and went on to be a LA Rams Cheerleader. I have organized halftime shows for the LA Rams, LA Lakers, LA Clippers as well as Shows/Parades at Disneyland Park, Anaheim and Paris, France. My passion is working with athletes and seeing them mature into fine young adults in all areas of their life, not just cheerleading. Go Sailors!

Head Coach/ Varsity Song
Matilda Siemonsma My name is Matilda Siemonsma. I have been a varsity coach for the NHHS Pep Squad since 2019. For my undergrad, I attended the University of Arizona, where I was a feature twirler. I was a nationally ranked baton twirler. I also have a gymnastics and a dance background. This gave me opportunities to perform all around the world such as France, Spain, England, etc. I was also an ambassador for United Stated, where I performed and gave back to underprivileged communities in Peru. I work closely with our students who are looking to take their passion to the next level and coach them in making a college cheer and dance team. I am a teacher at Newport Harbor, where I get to interact with our athletes all day long. My passion is working with all types of students and mentoring them to make their dreams come true. Go, Sailors!

Head Coach/Varsity Cheer
Chelsea Baker My name is Chelsea Baker, I am the Varsity Cheer Coach. I have coached the Cheer Team at Newport Harbor High for over 8 years. I have been a cheerleader all of my life and still cheer competitively today. I graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a degree in psychology and have my Teaching Credential in Mathematics. I have a vast amount of experience in sideline cheerleading, competitive cheerleading, tumbling, gymnastics, stunting, and dance. We prepare our athletes year round to compete, perform at all levels such as parades, live television, half time shows, Disneyland events and School Pep Rallies. I am extremely passionate about coaching cheerleading and making a difference in our athletes lives. I am excited and eager to work with your student, build connections, and make a positive impact in their life.

Junior Varsity Coach
Daly McAdams Daly McAdams is a former Newport Harbor 4-year Varsity Songleader. Daly has an extensive background in dance, having practiced various styles for over two decades, including contemporary, Jazz, ballet, Hip Hop, and Pom. She has been awarded many titles in her time as a competitive dancer and Song-leader. Her dancing career is being furthered through her work as a Choreographer as well as NHHS and Ensign Cheer Coach. As a coach, she has lead her teams to many overall championships and National placements. Daly began choreographing as a student and enjoys working with the talented athletes as well as the arts students. Currently, she is pursuing her Bachelors in Social Science and Teaching Credential at National University. She plans to continue her passion for education as a Newport Harbor teacher. |
